Weight Gain Diets
July 9, 2010
While most people struggle for overweight problems, others find it just as challenging to put weight on. No matter how much they eat, they still remain thin or underweight. Several factors may have contributed to being thin and underweight such as genetic pattern, stress or nervous tension. But then through proper nutrition or weight gain diets, they can absolutely obtain healthy, lean muscle mass.
If you wish to be bigger, stronger and more muscular, here are the fundamentals of a good weight gain diet.
•Eat foods particularly with high calories. Your food intake should be more than what you are eating regularly but let it be on healthy foods. Avoid consuming too much fat and sweets. Eat 5 or 6 small meals a day instead of three heavy meals. Eat meals in a relax manner, do not hurry so your digestive system could work properly.
•Drink plenty of fluids for a supply of calories such as juice, milk and sports beverages. It would also help in transporting the nutrients in your body, eliminate waste products and facilitate proper digestion.
•Include protein at each meal. Protein is essential to the body, for repair, to enable the immune system to function and for recovery from illness. Muscle gain would be unattainable if your body lacks protein particularly amino acids. Protein supplements can also be taken as substitute.
•Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables. They contain vitamins and minerals and phytochemicals which would improve your health and your body weight.
•Avoid eating junk foods and greasy foods because they contain bad fats. Make sure to increase your calorie intake and that it should be from healthy foods to earn more weight.
•Avoid caffeine and nicotine so your body could maximize the utilization of what you eat. These are stimulants and help increase body metabolism.
•A little amount of alcohol may also be taken for others, but before meals because this would stimulate your appetite. However, alcohol must be taken after your doctor’s permission only.
Aside from the diet, exercise is also essential to grow muscle and to gain weight. Exercise such as weight lifting helps increase your muscle size while aerobic exercises such as running and bicycling are for fat loss. Resistance training can be done at a health club, gym or at home with the proper equipment.
Remember, it can take a while to gain the weight you need, so be patient. Stick on to your weight gain diet until you reach your ideal weight. Enjoy eating those healthy foods, after all “Health is wealth”.
Brown Rice Diet
June 20, 2010
Demand of rice in the market is growing in countries where people prefer rice over bread or pasta, but the demand is spreading throughout the world. The reason why it became so popular today is the knowledge that rice is they say the power house of food and because it is fiber-rich.
However, people prefer white over brown rice. Why? Well, because its cost doesn’t hurt much, in other words it is relatively cheaper than brown variety. It is easier and a lot faster to cook, and it is more tender and softer than brown ones.
But, little do they know they’re actually missing out on brown rice. It is not just nutritionally healthy and good for the body but, that because it actually has double the fiber of white rice!
The reason why brown rice are fibrous than that of the white is in the way brown rice are milled and being produced. In the milling process done on brown rice, the hull is the only ones removed from the grain, that is an outer layer and is therefore not used or edible and the rest of the brown rice grain is then left intact. Whereas, in the production of white rice grains they remove the bran and in fact it is like removing almost all of its germ layer, the most significant layer.
This process actually destroys most of the minerals and the vitamins and fibers in the grain which can cause the blood sugar levels to rise then may contribute to gaining weight. On the other hand, the brown rice grains also contain minerals and vitamin B.
So what?! What difference does the fiber make anyhow?!
Well, quiet a lot actually because, it actually acts as a powerful body cleanser. Brown rice certainly contains a high amount of fiber which is believed to be excellent for cleansing the colon and not just that, because it also acts like a pipe cleaner in your intestine, wherein it grabs away nasty toxins like pesticides, chemicals, heavy metals and other pollutants on its way thru.
For the cleansing to work, you must use brown rice, the organic one and cook them thoroughly, why? Just to make it easier for you to digest. For better results, you can soak the rice for at least 20 to 30 minutes, overnight if possible and this way the bran layer of the brown rice grain is softened in the best possible way.
Eating brown rice instead of white rice is not only healthy but that it leaves you nourished and cleansed every time you take your meal. Although, with brown rice, it may cost you more but I think it will not cost that much for one so precious as your health. Right?!
